Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie

Keeping it simple yet delicious, detox smoothies are one of the best detox drinks to add to your daily routine. To detox the body you need to fuel it with whole foods that will help purge itself, while not compromising your daily vitamins and minerals.

Smoothies consist of the entire fruit or vegetable – skin and all. In its whole form, it contains all of the fiber. In the blending process, however, the fiber breaks down to a form to digest while still creating a slow, even release of nutrients into the blood stream, avoiding any sugar spikes. Ideal for a morning breakfast or for a mid-day snack, these  homemade detox smoothies pack wholesome goodness to fuel and detox your way to a better, healthier you!

This week’s featured recipe is Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothie! Antioxidant-packed, this smoothie replenishes and helps purge toxins from its various systems. Perk up your morning and kick it off strong with this baby!

  • 1 1/2 cups organic berry mix (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup organic coconut or almond milk
  • 1 cup purified water
  • 1/8 cup organic rolled oats (gluten-free options are available at Trader Joe’s)

  1. Blend everything together until you reach a smoothie consistency.  When detoxing organic produce is recommended.

Serve and drink your smoothie straight away. After 15 minutes, light and air will destroy much of the nutrients. If you can’t drink it straight away, transfer to a dark airtight container and chill until you’re ready.
